San Geronimo Golf Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in San Geronimo, California.
The San Geronimo golf course opened in 1965. The course was designed by Robert Muir Graves.
Resting on over 150-acres of stunning terrain, the San Geronimo Golf Course presents golfers with unique elements of challenge and beauty. Each hole presents a new and varied challenge, and golfers will find that they have used every club in their bag after tackling San Geronimo. Water hazards await misdirected approaches on more than half the greens. Ponds come into play on seven holes, creeks on nine. There are also 42 strategically placed bunkers to contend with.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6801 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5140 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 4, a par-5 that plays to 550 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 7, a par-3 that plays to 190 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 5, a 450 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at San Geronimo Golf Club is # 12, a 415 yard par-4.
The course closed on the last day of 2017.
The land was purchased by the county.

San Geronimo is an interesting course, but almost impossible to play the first time unless you are with someone who is familiar with the course. There are several blind shots, including one tee shot on the back 9 where you set up to hit your drive facing a hill that seems to rise 50 feet in front of you and there are no indications whatsoever of where you are supposed to aim or how far you need to hit the ball. There are a few other holes where your second shot is similar -- i.e., you can't see where you are supposed to go, and there is nothing to even give you a hint as to what direction or how far is your goal.
If you are familiar with the course, or with someone who is familiar with it, then it can be a LOT of fun. If you are a beginner, there are several holes that will be terrifying and almost impossible to play (some due to forced carries off the tee, some due to carries to get to the green). The condition of the course is outstanding for the money. If you are used to playing munis, where the bunkers are like hardpan (or like swinging through glue if they're wet), definitely find a bunker where you can take a few practice swings -- because these bunkers may appear to be muddy hardpan, but in reality they are just coarse sand that you can swing through predictably, even when they're wet.

I got a special price off an external website.
Played the golf course before approximately two-three years ago - seems like the conditions were better then.
Still love the layout and ambiance. There are some homes on the back side, but they fit in so well. Only time a home got closer to the course than I prefer was at the 16th green.
Pace of play was a little slow at times, but we were in carts behind walkers, so not a big deal and we weren't waiting on every shot, some of the par 3s were clear.

Beautiful setting so close to San Francisco yet you really feel you are in the wilderness. Salmon, bobcats, coyotee, even some mountain lion sightings. Never get tired of Holes 6, 9, 11, 12 16 and 18 although I play them well over par. Slower on weekends but getting out during the week results in good pace. Great food, too.

I have played this course many times and never get tried of playing it. It starts out slowly but by the 4th hole, the game is on and almost every hole after that is challenging. Quick sloping greens add to the challenge.

Very good course in great shape except for the tees which are bad. Greens are fairways are very good so it is a shame the tees are so bad.

Great course - good price for a tough test especially the back nine. Greens and fairways are in great shape and the drainage they added a few years ago really helps particularly the the first five holes which used to drain very badly. The only downside are the tees particularly the 7th tee which is horrible.

San Geronimo is a great challenge, but fair at same the same time. The price is good and the course is in good shape. It is worth the drive out to San Geronimo.

I like this course and play here often as it is challenging and in pretty good condition. It seems that there is always some improvement work going on all the time which helps keep the conditions good

Play this course! Stayed at an RV park nearby so it was an easy 15 minute drive but I'd drive 50 miles to play this course again. Not an easy course but does play fair and the course is in great shape.

Good rate through Golfnow, $22 w/ cart, tee time was around 4PM on a weekday. Well worth it for a Bay Area course no matter how you cut it. Though I can't even remember much about the course so other than the price I guess it doesn't stick out.

Starting time delay is the norm and the pace of play very slow; however, the course is beautiful and the area is delightful to visit.

Beautiful course. It's a long way from just about everywhere, but if I get back to the north bay again anytime soon, I'll go play it.

You can pretty much let the big dog hunt here but if you are off line, be prepared to hit some low recovery shots under the branches. Spectacular setting nestled in a tree lined valley, very quiet. Tees could use some work but the greens are very true. Its not a destination spot but if you are in the area, worth looking into.

There are rumors this course will be closing soon. I would get out and play it if you have a chance. Gene's review was spot on, and I don't have anything to add. So I hope Gene doesn't mind if I repost his review. San Geronimo is an interesting course, but almost impossible to play the first time unless you are with someone who is familiar with the course.
